If any of you have started researching this or even starting to eat by the rules you probably have figured out this whole thing is going to be slightly difficult. Trying to stick to a true Paleo/Zone meal every time you eat is going to be near impossible (that would be Zone Portions with only Paleo approved foods). DON'T get frustrated with this. From what I have gathered from the Crossfit Community the portion control of "Zoning" seems to be more important to most of the Athletes than sticking to a strict Paleo diet where the portions are unlimited. Don't beat yourself up after having a sandwich or pasta as long as you stick to the portion size for the meal you will still be in the zone and you will be doing fine....I promise.

I’ve spent hours reading, researching, planning every meal and snack for the next two weeks for the whole family, shopping, I find myself very excited and afraid. Excited to lose the weight and gain the body I so desperately desire to have, inside and out and afraid I will fail.
ReplyDeleteDay One: I had an extremely stressful day on Sunday and was unable to prepare ahead other than a quick breakfast which was coconut milk, blueberries and almonds. I will have to say, I was dreading the coconut milk, made a face and rolled my eyes as I poured it over my berries and almonds. To my surprise, it was wonderful. I repeated this for lunch and then blew it all at a BCS party with close friends and family. I was full and had indigestion after the binging as I normally don’t eat anything that is not 100% whole grain and grains were very limited in my diet previous to today. It was definitely not worth the temporary pleasure of the cheat. Well, maybe the cake was. Thanks Polly.
Day Two: Having come off of very little sleep from the BCS game, I overslept a little and did not prepare anything other than breakfast which was a repeat of the previous day. Still enjoyed it. I did the same for lunch as well. When I got home for dinner as I did the night before, I was hungry and due to my lack of preparation, the only “Paleo” snack I could grab quickly was green olives (which I found out after the fact they in fact are NOT Paleo friendly. Black olives would have been a better choice. Fortunately, Tim and I had prepared Paleo Chili for a day or so in advance. It was delicious and very filling. I will admit that it was difficult to ignore the craving for something sweet between dinner and bedtime. I did resist and I am glad I did not listen to that fat voice inside me.

If they had decent fruit this time a year it wouldn't be so hard to combat those sweet cravings but most of the stuff tastes like the produce you can buy at Pier One to decorate your home with. Keep at it and Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the encouragement. The craving came again last night pretty strong so I ate a smooth, no stir almond butter mixed with blueberries & a few almonds. It satisfied my craving and was great! Not chocolate cake with double dark chocolate icing good but I was really good. Peace, love and Paleo on.
