My wife is getting a little frustrated because she hasn't lost any weight yet. We did a little cheating this weekend but me more so than her. I have currently lost around 6 lbs, sorry ladies I know it's not fair but it's just easier for guys. Looking to hear back from anybody but especially the ladies. Some of you really didn't have very much to lose and are doing this for an increased performance standpoint but post what you can. Just comment to this article or start a new post. Let's start talking! I'm proud of everyone but at the same time wondering how many people are secretly plotting my demise for getting all of this started.
Clay Crocker.
Guys are so lucky. They eat like a horse but don't easily gain weight. It's so frustrating to holding urself back from all those delicious foods but all that sacrifice don't make u lose weight. But i dont lose hope. Hope to doing it better this year.

Everybody keep up the good work. We are only a little over a week into this so our bodies are still adjusting. I know it's easy to say but "weight" shouldn't be the only goal. Smaller waist sizes will probably come before tremendous weight loss. You will be very happy you did this at the end of the 8 weeks. Or you'll just want to kill Clay, but it will be one of the two for sure.

ReplyDeleteThanks Doug....I think..

I scored 95 points for week 1. Had 2 really bad cheat meals that cost me -6 per meal and also got -14 on the alcohol for the week..wow that's a lot. Doing good on fish oil but didn't score a stinking point for the 1/2 veggie blocks thing. Was able to get my 5 workouts in for the week with 3 good days of running for 1 hour per run at least and 2 gym days where i did light wods and maxed squats. - Where is Amy? I heard she was doing pretty much all Paleo/Zone meals.

i was really frustrated with my performance level yesterday at CrossFit and my long run on Saturday, topped by the fact that I have not lost any weight on my scale at home. It is weird to feel like i am completely dragging for a workout when I usually have energy. I truly think it is because my body is hungry and trying to figure out how to do the same activities with less calories (this must be the part where it is trying to figure out how to use my fat for energy :)) Well this morning I noticed something odd when on my Nike sports tank to go run....it felt well, looser - i thought weird my elastic is getting stretched out but its a pretty new top.... i didn't think anything about it until i told Matt (during our hill repeats which were about 10-15 seconds slower then usual) when we were talking all about this stuff and he told me that it may be the first sign of progress! Losing inches.... So either its totally in my head or maybe there is something to this.... This week the routine of the block system is getting a little easier, BUT DAMN I AM HUNGRY. really hungry. Kara
ReplyDeleteEAT MATT...nobody will miss him. Kidding Matt. Good to hear there may be some positive signs starting to show. I have around 25 lbs of fat on my body according to the scales at the gym, I don't think you have anywhere near that much so It's harder to lose weight you ain't got..at least that's what my grandpa used to say. Anyway keep going a few more weeks and if nothing changes for the better grab the nearest bag of Doritos and go to town.

Ok, you want comments? I need a support group! Like, every day at 3:30 when I get home. Now you know.....I am a closet peanut butter addict. I did great on my first week (before we actually got started) and then Chris went out of town and I didn't sleep much, didn't get to run, and from stress-started in on the PB. I really blew it towards the end of the week and stopped writing down my food.
ReplyDeleteI went back and logged it all in and am trying again, but still can't kick the snacking in the afternoon. So how do I count up all those points? or rather deduct all those points? I do this every time I start a diet. I need to kick this bad habit and quick!!!
Ok, I'll stop unloading now. Ali R.
Stay with it. Plan a menu for the week and stick to it. Once you get the hang of the meals it will be a lot easier. Can't help much on the snacking other than keep as much of that food out of the house as possible. I'm not bad with food but if there is wine or beer around it WILL get drank.
DeleteIf your meals didn't fit the Paleo or Zone prescription you will have to deduct 2 points per meal - if you busted the 5 block amount you will have to deduct another point for each of the "cheat Meals". Also if you have a menu and really stick to it keeping a separate food log becomes unnecessary.
Keep at it

Good point below with the Almond Butter. If you feel you just have to eat more than Zone portions just keep the foods Paleo (there isn't any quantity restrictions on Paleo Foods) You will still score a point for the meal. Ditch the Peanut butter for a Jar of Almond Butter and you won't lose 2 points.

Peanut butter very hard habit to kick. The 3:30 hour is the toughest for me. i am definitely the hungriest right at that time. My best friends are coffee or hot tea right after my snack and if still hungry a bottle of water. then if still hungry a piece of gum.
DeletePeanut butter is Awesome!! But not Paleo (try almond butter).
ReplyDeleteAs far as the snack attacks, I believe we all experience that and you have to recognize how you will feel after you indulge (the guilt). Also, think about the weight watchers addage "Nothing tastes as good as you will look".. or something like that. For the afternoon attacks, try throwing in a piece of gum (the new Extra Watermelon is a good hunger quencher). At night I find it helps to drink some tea instead, or even go ahead and brush your teeth.
My big struggles with the Paleo Zone was giving up coffee. Oh man did I hurt the first week. Tired, cranky, etc. But this week is a complete revival. All the veggies really do help fill me up. My score last week was 97 due to a good Friday night and a Feast on Saturday night.. woops. This week my goal is a perfect 167.
Oh No No!!! I will not give up coffee- there are just some things! I would no longer have a family! If there is anything I learned my first obsessive week it's that I need to be more balanced with my time spent tracking and adding up points. I can't just go all out on the weekends b/c I'll spend until Wednesday making up for that. It's about sticking with it on the weekends which is really hard. I'm down 4-5lbs as of this morning on my scale, so I'm happy with that. Elizabeth E
ReplyDeleteThat's great news Elizabeth. I'm with you on the coffee. Keep it up and you may be down around 15-20 by the end of this thing..and kicking "Cindy"'s ass in the process!
